President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the formation of the National Tax Policy Implementation Committee (NTPIC) to ensure the effective implementation of his administration’s landmark tax reforms. The committee will be chaired by Mr. Joseph Tegbe, a seasoned tax and finance professional with over 35 years of experience, and overseen by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun. Mrs. Sanyade Okoli will serve as Secretary, with other members drawn from finance, law, the private sector, and civil society.
The committee’s mandate includes broad stakeholder consultations across public and private sectors, coordination of key revenue and regulatory institutions, harmonisation of existing frameworks with new statutes, and public awareness campaigns to support effective implementation of the Tax Acts. President Tinubu emphasised that the reforms aim to build a fair, transparent, and technology-driven tax system that strengthens public finance management while safeguarding the interests of citizens and investors.
Chairman Tegbe affirmed the committee’s commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to deliver seamless implementation and build public trust in the tax system. Minister Edun added that the committee will help reset Nigeria’s fiscal policy framework, enhance revenue mobilisation, reduce leakages, and reinforce accountability, contributing to sustainable economic growth and national development.
