President Tinubu Expresses Concern Over Devastating Maiduguri Flood, Orders Immediate Action

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the recent flooding in Maiduguri, Borno State, which has displaced thousands of residents and damaged key facilities, including the Maiduguri Post Office and the University Teaching Hospital. The flood, described as the worst in decades, was caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam.

In a statement, President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the people of Borno State, particularly to those who have lost their homes and livelihoods in the disaster. The President has called for the immediate evacuation of people from the affected areas and emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to providing necessary support.

Tinubu assured Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, of the Federal Government’s readiness to collaborate with state authorities to address the immediate humanitarian needs of those impacted by the flood. He has directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to deploy resources to assist the victims.

The President reiterated his commitment to mobilizing federal resources to aid the recovery efforts and ensure that the affected communities receive the help they need during this difficult time.
