President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a two-year extension for the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. Abuduganiyu Adebomehin. The extension will take effect from January 5, 2026, following the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency.
The move, according to the Presidency, is to allow Mr. Adebomehin to complete ongoing reforms in the nation’s geospatial data systems, which are central to Nigeria’s land management, infrastructure planning, reclamation, and erosion control programmes. President Tinubu expressed confidence that the Surveyor-General will consolidate the reforms that are key to improving coordination in national mapping and land administration.
Mr. Adebomehin, who was first appointed on January 5, 2022, by former President Muhammadu Buhari, has been credited with initiating several modernization efforts within OSGOF. His tenure renewal underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening institutional reforms and ensuring strategic continuity in areas of national importance.
