President Tinubu Felicitates Former Kano Governor Ibrahim Shekarau at 70

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu commended Senator Shekarau for his outstanding record of public service and leadership.

The President highlighted Shekarau’s distinguished career, noting his rise from a classroom teacher to Permanent Secretary in the Kano State Civil Service, before venturing into politics in the early 2000s.

President Tinubu recalled Shekarau’s remarkable election as Governor of Kano State in 2003 and praised his human-centred approach to governance during his two terms in office.

He further acknowledged Shekarau’s contributions as Minister of Education (2014–2015) and Senator representing Kano Central (2019–2023), describing him as an educator, administrator, and statesman who has served Nigeria with dedication.

President Tinubu prayed for Senator Shekarau’s continued good health and long life, so that he may keep contributing to the progress and development of his people and the nation.
