President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, on his 73rd birthday and his 22nd year on the throne. The President commended the traditional ruler for his patriotic service to the country and exemplary leadership within Nigeria’s traditional institutions.
Alhaji Abubakar, who served in the military and held key operational positions before retiring as a Brigadier-General, ascended the throne as the 13th Etsu Nupe in 2003. President Tinubu noted that he has contributed significantly to nation-building, using his revered position to foster unity, harmony, religious tolerance, peace, and reconciliation across the country.
The President also highlighted Etsu Nupe’s humility, courage, and leadership experience, reflected in his roles as Chairman of Abuja Mosque and Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria. He prayed for more years of life and greater wisdom for Etsu Nupe and beseeched Almighty Allah to keep his reign over the Nupe Kingdom peaceful and prosperous.
