President Tinubu Inaugurates Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance

President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, praising his experience, dedication, and commitment to public service. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where the President described Oyedele’s appointment as a vote of confidence in his capabilities. He commended the new minister for his professionalism in coordinating the work of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.

President Tinubu highlighted Oyedele’s critical role in shaping reforms aimed at simplifying Nigeria’s tax system, expanding the revenue base, and creating a business-friendly environment. Addressing Oyedele’s wife, the President acknowledged the family’s support, noting the long hours and dedication required in public service. “We are very proud of your knowledge, simplicity, ambition, and excellence,” he said, emphasizing Oyedele’s zeal, patience, and courage in serving the nation.

A native of Ikaram, Akoko, Ondo State, Oyedele is an economist, accountant, and public policy expert. He holds a Higher National Diploma in accountancy and finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has also completed executive programs at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and Harvard Kennedy School. Oyedele worked for 22 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, rising to Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader, and currently serves as a professor at Babcock University and visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.
