In a ceremony honoring Nigeria’s military heroes, President Bola Tinubu officially launched the emblem appeal for the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the nation’s servicemen and women.

During the launch, held at the State House, President Tinubu paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the armed forces in defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and maintaining peace. He highlighted the importance of supporting military personnel and their families, particularly those who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.

“The welfare of our armed forces is a priority for my administration,” Tinubu stated. “We owe our brave men and women a debt of gratitude, and we will continue to ensure they receive the recognition and support they deserve.”

The emblem appeal is a fundraising initiative aimed at supporting the welfare of retired and serving armed forces members, as well as the families of fallen heroes. Funds raised through the sale of emblems will contribute to various welfare programs, including healthcare and financial support for military families in need.

President Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to participate in the emblem appeal by purchasing the emblem to show solidarity with the armed forces. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 each year, serves as a national moment of reflection on the sacrifices of Nigeria’s military personnel in preserving peace and unity.

As the event concluded, officials and dignitaries joined the president in pledging their support, underscoring a collective commitment to honoring the sacrifices of Nigeria’s armed forces.
