President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound sadness over the passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, the revered Islamic scholar and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, who died on Thursday at the age of 101.
The President described the late Sheikh as a moral compass who devoted his entire life to teaching, preaching, and nurturing generations in the path of peace, piety, and devotion to God. President Tinubu recalled the blessings, prayers, and unwavering moral support he received from Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi in the build-up to the 2023 presidential election, noting that his loss is deeply felt across the nation.
He stated that the death of Sheikh Bauchi is a monumental loss not only to his family and followers, but also to Nigeria and the entire Muslim ummah.
President Tinubu condoled with the Tijjaniyya community and all admirers of the late cleric across the country and beyond. He urged them to honour the Sheikh’s legacy by upholding his teachings of peaceful coexistence, strengthening their relationship with God, and showing kindness to humanity.
