President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his condolences to the government and people of Kebbi State following the passing of the Emir of Zuru, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (retd.), Gomo II. The revered monarch, who was also a former military governor of Bauchi State, died on Sunday.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the emir’s death as a “huge blow to the nation,” noting that Nigeria would long remember his contributions as an administrator, military officer, and respected traditional ruler. Tinubu recalled that as a young officer, the emir also served the country during the Civil War between 1967 and 1970.

The President further commended the late monarch’s leadership in Kebbi, saying his reign brought stability and development to the Zuru Emirate. He prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the emir eternal rest and to give his family and subjects the strength to bear the loss.
