Borno State, April 9, 2026 – President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the loss of soldiers of the 29 Task Force Brigade, Operation HADIN KAI, who were killed in a coordinated terrorist attack on their camp in Benisheikh, Borno State.

The Defence Headquarters confirmed the attack and the resulting casualties, which occurred early Thursday. President Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and the military, urging them to take strength from the nation’s appreciation for their service.

The President lauded the bravery and heroism of the troops who fought to prevent Boko Haram from overrunning the communities they protect. He emphasized that their sacrifices will not be in vain and called on the Armed Forces to remain steadfast.

“From the reports I have received, our armed forces have been conducting sustained, intense land and air offensives against the insurgents, neutralising many of their fighters and commanders. The insurgents’ counterattack is a sign of desperation,” he said.

President Tinubu specifically remembered Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah and other gallant soldiers who gave their lives in defence of the nation. He urged the Military High Command and all troops not to be discouraged, assuring that the government will continue to provide equipment and welfare support.

He also called on Nigerians and the media to support the military in its fight against insurgency and banditry, warning against celebrating or condoning attacks on troops.

“My condolences also go to the government and people of Borno State. The Federal Government will continue to work with the state government to achieve total victory and lasting peace,” the President added.
