In a deeply somber statement, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound grief over the tragic incident at a Children’s FunFair in Ibadan, which claimed the lives of innocent children and left several others injured.

The President conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Oyo State, extending support to the grieving families who lost their loved ones in the heartbreaking event. “In this moment of mourning, my thoughts and prayers are with the affected families. May the Almighty God grant peace to the souls of the departed,” he said.

Following the incident, President Tinubu has directed a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. He stressed the need for transparency and accountability, urging authorities to determine whether negligence or intentional actions played a role in the disaster.

The President also called on the Oyo State Government to take immediate and comprehensive measures to prevent a recurrence of such tragedies. He emphasized the necessity of conducting safety audits for event venues, strictly enforcing safety regulations, and implementing robust safety protocols for all public gatherings.

Additionally, President Tinubu appealed to event organisers nationwide to prioritise the safety of attendees, particularly children. “Our children’s safety and well-being must remain paramount,” he asserted. “No event should ever compromise their lives or welfare.”
