President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated three seasoned diplomats and security experts as non-career ambassadors to represent Nigeria in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. Their postings will be confirmed following Senate screening.
The nominees include Ambassador Ayodele Oke, a former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and alumnus of Emory University, who previously served as Nigeria’s ambassador to the Secretariat of the Commonwealth of Nations in London. Also nominated is Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are, a distinguished security professional who led the State Security Service (SSS) from 1999 to 2007, later served as National Security Adviser in 2010, and holds a First Class Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
Rounding off the list is Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu, who brings diplomatic experience from his previous tenure as Nigeria’s ambassador to South Korea under President Muhammadu Buhari, following his initial appointment in 2016. The nominations reflect the administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s foreign representation with experienced hands.
