President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the military, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to track down and bring to justice those responsible for the recent attack in Kasuwan Daji, Niger State. He directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the DSS to take immediate action, and emphasised the urgent need to rescue all abducted victims. The directives follow the killing of villagers by terrorists believed to be fleeing Sokoto and Zamfara States after the United States air strike on Christmas Eve.
The President condemned the attack and the abduction of women and children, describing the act as a test of the nation’s resolve. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Niger State, warning that all those involved, including anyone who aids or abets the attackers, would be pursued and brought to justice. Security agencies have been instructed to intensify operations, particularly around communities near forests that have historically served as hideouts for criminal elements.
President Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain united and steadfast, cautioning against divisive rhetoric that could undermine national security. “These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people to confront these criminals. United, we can defeat them, deny them any sanctuary, and restore peace and security to our communities,” he said.
