
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his condolences over the passing of Comrade Abiodun Aremu, a renowned unionist and rights activist, who died on Sunday in Ota, Ogun State. The President extended sympathy to Aremu’s family, friends, and associates, as well as to the labour movement and civil society.
Describing Aremu as a committed and courageous fighter, President Tinubu highlighted his dedication to empowering workers and defending their rights. He also acknowledged Aremu’s role as a teacher, organiser, and conscience of the people, whose work inspired generations of Nigerians on integrity, justice, and patriotism.
The President commiserated with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), and the wider civil society community, noting the nation’s loss of a tireless advocate for the common good. He prayed for the repose of Aremu’s soul and strength for his family and loved ones.
