In his tribute, President Tinubu shared fond memories of their time together, writing, “Your passing has left an unfillable void in the hearts of our family. The fond memories we shared, from childhood through the many years we spent together, will forever remain in my heart.” He described Dr. Ekemode as a man whose compassion and care extended far beyond his work as a physician, impacting countless lives.

“Your bright smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness will always be cherished,” the President added. “As a physician, your compassion and care touched countless lives, and your legacy will endure through the people you healed, comforted, and uplifted.”

President Tinubu also reflected on their celebration of Dr. Ekemode’s 80th birthday earlier this year, lamenting that they had hoped for more time together. However, he found solace in the knowledge that his cousin is now at peace. “Though we celebrated your 80th birthday earlier this year with hope for more shared moments, we take solace in the knowledge that you are now at peace, free from pain and suffering.”

In addition to his personal reflections, the President extended his condolences to the entire Ekemode family, offering words of comfort during their time of grief. “In this time of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with your loved ones. The cherished memories we hold dear and the love you gave to us will provide strength and comfort during these difficult times.”
