President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to national development, citing the unwavering support of the National Assembly as a key pillar of progress. Speaking at his Oyinkan Abayomi Drive residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, Tinubu hosted Vice President Kashim Shettima, leaders of the National Assembly, and former principal officers during a New Year homage.
The meeting, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, emphasized collaboration and unity in the transformative journey toward Nigeria’s prosperity.
“Nigerians are the heart of everything we are doing. We have come to serve,” President Tinubu declared. “The transformative journey we have embarked upon is for all of us—for our tomorrow and future generations. Your commitment will yield fruit for the babies yet unborn.”
The President expressed gratitude for the lawmakers’ encouragement, pledging to work harder and make bold decisions for national growth. Quoting a Yoruba proverb, he said, “It is only a courageous dog that will capture the animal in the bush,” highlighting the administration’s resolve to address Nigeria’s challenges head-on.
Senate President Akpabio lauded Tinubu’s bold reforms and assured him of the legislature’s full backing.
“On this journey of restoration, transformation, and rebuilding the nation, you are not alone. The National Assembly is with you and will stand by you,” Akpabio stated. He cited achievements such as the oversubscription of Nigeria’s Eurobond, improved ease of doing business, and growing investor confidence as evidence of the administration’s positive economic trajectory.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, also commended the President for fostering unity and collaboration between the executive and legislative arms. He praised the administration’s focus on alleviating poverty and improving the lives of Nigerians.
“Nigerians faced challenges at the beginning of 2023, but as the year ended, more food and prosperity started pouring in,” Abbas said. “We believe 2025 will be the ultimate year where every Nigerian will be proud of this administration.”
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a united, prosperous nation, vowing to steer Nigeria toward the “Promised Land.” He called on stakeholders to continue their dedication to national progress, emphasizing competence, courage, and a collective resolve.
The New Year homage was followed by a visit from members of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), underscoring the administration’s collaborative approach to governance.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the interactions as a testament to the administration’s transparency and determination to serve the people of Nigeria.
As the country enters a new year, the President’s message of unity and resilience resonates with hopes for a brighter and more prosperous Nigeria.
