President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja following his participation in the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The summit, held on Monday, focused on addressing the ongoing Middle East crisis, particularly the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The presidential aircraft touched down at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, where the president was welcomed by a delegation led by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila.

At the summit, President Tinubu joined other leaders from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the League of Arab States, calling for an immediate end to Israeli aggression in Gaza. “The conflict has persisted for far too long, inflicting immeasurable suffering,” he stated, reiterating Nigeria’s support for a two-state solution to ensure security and dignity for both Israelis and Palestinians.

President Tinubu also proposed the establishment of a dedicated secretariat to oversee the implementation of the summit’s resolutions. He suggested appointing a group of select Heads of Government to coordinate international support for peace efforts and monitor progress.

Following the summit, President Tinubu held a private meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Details of their discussion have not yet been released.
