Nigeria and Brazil are set to sign major agreements between today and tomorrow aimed at boosting aviation links and agricultural investments. The deals will reintroduce direct flights between Rio de Janeiro and Lagos through Brazil’s national carrier, Varig Air, alongside Nigerian airlines Air Peace and Caverton. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, will represent Nigeria in signing the aviation pact during the summit.

In agriculture, Brazil is committing to large-scale investment in Nigeria’s livestock sub-sector, a key component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s development agenda. The initiative will also activate the Green Imperative Partnership (GIP), expected to generate at least 100,000 direct jobs and over five million indirect jobs for Nigerians.

President Tinubu is on a two-day state visit to Brazil at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. This marks his third and most significant trip to the country within a year, following earlier visits to the G-20 meeting and the BRICS Summit. The renewed collaboration builds on agreements signed in June during the visit of Brazil’s Vice President Geraldo Alckmin to Nigeria and is expected to open new frontiers in trade, aviation, and agriculture.
