President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has written to the House of Representatives, requesting the lawmakers to consider and approve a bill for the establishment of the National Cocoa Management Board.
The letter, read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen during plenary, stated that the Executive Bill was transmitted to the parliament in line with Section 58 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
According to the President, the proposed legislation seeks to create a National Cocoa Management Board that will regulate, promote, and harmonize cocoa-related activities across the country.
He noted that the establishment of the board will enhance effective coordination of the cocoa value chain, improve standards, and strengthen Nigeria’s participation in the global cocoa economy.
