Nigeria has deepened its agricultural cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco through high-level engagements led by the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, and Morocco’s Ahmed El Bouari. The renewed partnership focuses on expanding livestock export, agribusiness development and technical collaboration, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Both nations agreed to advance trade in key livestock and agricultural products while establishing a framework for long-term cooperation.

Under the agreement, Nigeria will increase the export of live animals, fodder, soybean meal and sunflower seeds to Morocco, while Morocco will support Nigeria with irrigation technology, enhanced animal genetics and improved phytosanitary systems for red meat processing. A Joint Technical Working Group has been established to refine Nigeria’s proposals and prepare an MoU expected to be signed at the SIAM Annual Agriculture Show in April 2026.

The Nigerian delegation also visited BioPharma, a leading vaccine manufacturer in Rabat, to explore collaboration with Nigeria’s NVRI, Vom, especially in advanced livestock vaccines including Foot and Mouth Disease. The mission, highlighted by Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier victory over Gabon at the Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium, reflects the growing ties between both nations as Nigeria works to strengthen veterinary systems and elevate agribusiness competitiveness.
