On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu swore in Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello as the new Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). The brief swearing-in ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa, preceding the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which the President also chaired.

Following his swearing-in, Dr. Bello addressed State House correspondents, reaffirming his commitment to combating corruption through the CCB. He stressed the importance of integrity and accountability among public officials, pledging to fulfill the agency’s mandate diligently.

“I want to thank Mr. President for this appointment. I am truly honored and will do my best to address the significant task ahead,” Bello said.

Acknowledging that corruption is a global challenge, Dr. Bello emphasized the importance of having robust systems in place to counter it.

“We have the systems and institutions needed to succeed. What remains is for us to deliver on our mandate, and I am confident everything will fall into place,” he added.

The Code of Conduct Bureau is Nigeria’s foremost anti-corruption institution, tasked with ensuring that public officials act with integrity, avoid conflicts of interest, and uphold ethical standards in public service.
