
Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Sunday to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The summit, set to commence on Monday, November 11, 2024, will bring together leaders and representatives from across the region to discuss the Middle East’s pressing issues, with a particular focus on the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict.
The event, organized at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, marks the second consecutive year Riyadh has hosted the summit, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s central role in diplomatic efforts in the region. Leaders are expected to engage in comprehensive discussions aimed at fostering peace and stability.
During the summit, President Tinubu is anticipated to underscore Nigeria’s commitment to promoting peace, calling urgently for a ceasefire in the escalating conflict between Israel and Palestine. His address will highlight Nigeria’s stance on the importance of a two-state solution, which Nigeria views as a viable framework for enduring peace.
President Tinubu will be joined by a delegation of senior Nigerian officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
Following the summit, President Tinubu and his team are expected to return to Abuja.
