The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is set to unveil a National Intellectual Property (IP) Policy in July 2025. The landmark initiative aims to strengthen legal protections for innovation, empower Nigerian creators, and boost the country’s creative and knowledge-based exports on the global stage.

The policy will provide a comprehensive framework for safeguarding copyrights, patents, trademarks, and indigenous knowledge, thereby fostering a more robust intellectual property ecosystem. It also aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to diversify the economy, enhance competitiveness, and attract foreign investment into the creative, cultural, and digital sectors.

Stakeholders across the entertainment, fashion, tech, publishing, and innovation industries have welcomed the upcoming launch, hailing it as a critical step toward unlocking Nigeria’s full creative potential and positioning the nation as a global hub for African innovation and talent.
