President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly on Friday, December 19, 2025. The announcement follows a formal communication to lawmakers and marks the formal submission of the Federal Government’s fiscal proposals for legislative consideration and approval.
According to a letter dated December 17, 2025, signed on behalf of the Clerk of the National Assembly, the budget presentation is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., while security and access arrangements require all accredited personnel to report by 11:00 a.m. Non-accredited persons have been advised to avoid the National Assembly complex on the day.
The presentation comes after the Senate recently passed the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper, setting the stage for the budget submission and indicating legislative readiness to receive the proposal. The 2026 budget is expected to outline the government’s priorities for economic growth, infrastructure, security, and social welfare under President Tinubu’s administration.
