President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signaled his intention to reshuffle his cabinet, emphasising the need for his ministers to be more vocal about the achievements of their respective ministries. This was revealed during a press conference at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday, by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Onanuga noted that although significant work has been accomplished by the current administration, many Nigerians remain unaware of these efforts. “The President has expressed his desire to reshuffle his cabinet and he will do it. I don’t know whether he wants to do it before October 1st, but he will surely do it,” Onanuga stated, clarifying that no specific timeline for the reshuffle has been provided.

In a bid to improve the public perception of the government’s work, President Tinubu has instructed his ministers to actively engage with the media. Onanuga explained that during the last Federal Executive Council meeting, the President directed his cabinet members to overcome any reluctance to speak publicly and make efforts to communicate the administration’s progress to the public.

“Some of them have been media shy, television shy, radio shy, and he wants them to overcome all that and go out there and speak about what they have been doing,” Onanuga said. He added that despite the perception that the government is not doing enough, significant strides have been made, and it is now up to the ministers to “blow their own trumpet” and inform Nigerians about the activities and successes of their ministries.

This announcement comes at a critical time for the Tinubu administration, as public expectations for tangible results remain high. The proposed cabinet reshuffle is seen as part of the President’s broader strategy to improve the efficiency of his government and enhance communication between the administration and the public.
