President Tinubu to Undertake State Visit to Türkiye

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Monday, 26 January, for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring cooperation in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation.

The visit follows Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official visit to Nigeria from 19 to 20 October 2021. During the trip, both countries are expected to hold strategic political and diplomatic discussions covering finance, communication, trade, and investment, as well as sign memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in areas including scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military cooperation, and protocol.

A business forum will bring together investors from both countries to identify opportunities for collaboration. Members of President Tinubu’s entourage include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN; Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd); Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Hon. Jimi Benson; and other senior officials from the ministries of Women Affairs, Interior, Culture and Creative Economy, as well as the National Security Adviser and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the visit.
