President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has launched a nationwide empowerment programme aimed at equipping 1800 young Nigerians with in-demand tech skills as part of his administration’s commitment to reducing poverty and creating sustainable jobs.

The initiative, which focuses on web development, cybersecurity and solar installation, is part of the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The training is being implemented across six states: FCT, Ondo, Anambra, Bauchi, Delta and Kebbi in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.

Speaking at the official flag-off in Abuja, Dr Abiola Arogundade, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (TVEE), reaffirmed the President’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youths with practical and sustainable skills.

The two-week programme, themed “Upscaling Technical and Vocational Training,” aims to bridge the digital divide while fostering innovation and job creation. Beneficiaries are also receiving digital tools such as laptops and tablets to immediately begin their career or entrepreneurial journey.

Dr Arogundade stressed that President Tinubu is focused on meeting the administration’s target of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030 and sees technical education as a key driver of inclusive national development.

This initiative stands as a testament to President Tinubu’s belief that empowered youths are the backbone of a prosperous Nigeria.
