President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a comprehensive plan to launch massive value re-orientation programmes aimed at uniting Nigerians under shared values and beliefs through the National Identity Project. The announcement was made in his New Year message to the nation, setting the tone for a transformative year.

At the heart of the initiative is the National Values Charter, approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). Scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2025, the Charter will outline ethical principles, shared beliefs, and mutual commitments between the government and citizens. It aims to foster trust, patriotism, and cooperation across Nigeria’s diverse population.

President Tinubu emphasized that the National Identity Project is essential for aligning citizens with the goals of his Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to inspire unity, promote patriotism, and ensure collective progress. “Citizens’ moral rectitude and faith in our country are fundamental to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said. “In 2025, we will commit to promoting adherence to ethical principles, shared values, and beliefs under the National Identity Project.”

The project, spearheaded by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), includes seven institutionalization policies designed to entrench patriotism and strengthen the connection between citizens and national symbols.

As part of the campaign, the President also announced plans to convene a National Youth Conference within the next three months. The conference will serve as a platform to engage the youth in discussions about their role in nation-building and foster a deeper sense of belonging and responsibility.

The President urged citizens to rally behind the government’s efforts, stating that the success of ongoing reforms depends on collective commitment to shared values and national development.

The administration’s renewed focus on moral and ethical re-orientation signals a pivotal year for Nigeria, with the government seeking to inspire a sense of national identity and love for the country.
