
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead a distinguished line-up of dignitaries expected at the 10th anniversary celebration of GbaramatuVoice, the foremost pan-Niger Delta media organisation. The two-day event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, August 27, and Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. It will feature a Public Lecture and the Niger Delta Night of Honour, highlighting a decade of impactful journalism, cultural preservation, and advocacy for peace, justice, and development in the Niger Delta.
Other eminent dignitaries expected include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, and Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme Dr. Dennis Otuaro. Governors from the Niger Delta states, federal and state lawmakers, as well as other notable national leaders, will also grace the occasion. Ambassador Godknows Igali, National Chairman of PANDEF, will chair the event, while Professor Benjamin Okaba, President of the Ijaw National Congress, will deliver the keynote lecture.
The celebration will further showcase the presence of traditional rulers, including His Royal Majesty Oboro-Gbaraun II, Pere of the Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, who will serve as host. They will be joined by King Joseph Timiyan of Ogulagha, King Alfred Diete-Spiff of Twon-Brass, and King Bubaraye Dakolo of Ekpetiama Kingdom. Prominent Niger Delta leaders such as High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), Mr. Matthew Tonlagha of Maton Engineering, and High Chief Kestin Pondi of Tantita Security Services are also expected.
