President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Makurdi, Benue State, in response to the recent massacre in Yelwata community, Guma Local Government Area, where between 100 and 150 people were brutally killed by unknown gunmen.
Touching down at the Air Force Base in Makurdi around 12:58 pm, President Tinubu’s visit marks his first official trip to Benue since assuming office. The President’s presence signals the federal government’s resolve to prioritize security and directly engage affected communities in the aftermath of the attack.
Describing the killings as “senseless bloodletting,” President Tinubu expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families and condemned the violence in strong terms. He called on Nigerians to reject hatred and embrace unity, pledging that those responsible for the heinous act will be tracked down and prosecuted.
In line with his directive to security agencies, the President emphasized immediate action to restore peace and ensure justice. He also announced plans to hold a town-hall-style engagement with local leaders and stakeholders as part of broader efforts to foster reconciliation and address the root causes of violence.
The visit reinforces President Tinubu’s commitment to national security, showing that no community is abandoned, and no life is insignificant under his administration.
