PRESIDENT TINUBU WELCOMES AFRICA’S ENERGY LEADERS TO ABUJA FOR REFINED FUEL MARKETS CONFERENCE

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a tweet on his official X account, welcomed Africa’s energy stakeholders and global partners to Abuja for the Global Commodity Insights Conference on West African Refined Fuel Markets, hosted by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) in collaboration with S&P Global Insights.

The President emphasized the urgency of building credible, Africa-led pricing benchmarks that reflect the continent’s realities. “Africa can no longer remain a price taker for its resources,” he stated. “It is time to establish transparent benchmarks that protect our economies.”

He further highlighted Nigeria’s efforts in leading regional integration through refining, regulation, data transparency, and trade alignment. According to the President, this strategic platform aims to create a transparent reference market rooted in collaboration, regulatory alignment, and economic self-determination.

“We must price what we produce, trade on our terms, and secure value for our economies and future generations,” the tweet concluded, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to shaping an energy-secure and prosperous future for the continent.
