The presentation of the N47.9 trillion 2025 budget by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the joint session of the National Assembly has been rescheduled. Originally slated for Tuesday, December 17, the event will now hold on Wednesday, December 18.
A reliable insider from the National Assembly management confirmed the development, noting that an official statement on the shift is expected shortly.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, had earlier announced during last Thursday’s plenary session that the budget presentation would take place on December 17 at the House of Representatives Chamber. Akpabio further specified that plenary would commence at 10:30 AM to allow senators to convene in the Red Chamber before proceeding to the presentation venue.
President Tinubu’s 2025 budget follows the earlier submission of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper for 2025–2027 to both chambers of the National Assembly.
The proposed N47.9 trillion budget for 2025 incorporates key fiscal targets, including ₦9.22 trillion in new borrowing, an oil price benchmark of $75 per barrel, daily oil production of 2.06 million barrels, and an exchange rate projection of ₦1,400 to the dollar.
The budget is expected to drive President Tinubu’s economic agenda while addressing Nigeria’s fiscal deficit and fostering economic growth.
Details on the presentation will follow as updates emerge.
