A delegation of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) has conducted a pre-shipment inspection of newly procured electric buses at Anhui Ankai Automobile Co. Ltd, a leading bus manufacturing facility in Hefei City, China. The visit follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval for the acquisition of electric vehicles, aimed at promoting clean energy, sustainable transportation, and improved mobility in Nigeria’s North East region.

The delegation was led by Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, NEDC MD/CEO Mohammed G. Alkali, and Honourable Usman Zannah, Chairman of the House Committee on NEDC. Other members included senior officials from NEDC’s operations, audit, and management teams. The team inspected the e-buses and accessories to ensure their quality, readiness, and compliance with international manufacturing standards before shipment to Nigeria.

The procurement reflects NEDC’s commitment to deploying modern, eco-friendly transportation solutions to enhance connectivity, reduce carbon emissions, and stimulate economic growth in the North East. The initiative is a key step under the administration’s broader Renewed Hope Agenda to integrate sustainable infrastructure and innovation in regional development.
