The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has distributed 23,239 hybrid seedlings along with various farm inputs to 3,047 farmers across the country. The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to boost agricultural productivity, enhance export capacity, and support rural livelihoods.
The distribution aims to improve crop yield, promote sustainable farming practices, and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global agricultural market. By providing high-quality seedlings and necessary inputs, the programme seeks to empower farmers to meet both local demand and international quality standards.
According to the NEPC, the beneficiaries were drawn from different states, ensuring equitable access to the resources and encouraging nationwide participation in export-oriented agriculture. The council noted that this intervention will not only increase farmers’ incomes but also contribute to diversifying Nigeria’s economy through non-oil exports.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting farmers with the tools and resources needed to succeed, stating that agriculture remains a cornerstone of its economic growth strategy. This latest initiative reflects the administration’s resolve to create jobs, enhance food security, and position Nigeria as a major player in global agricultural trade.
