The Federal Government has expanded Nigeria’s technical education curriculum by adding 26 new trades, including hardware repair, plumbing, solar technology, and agriculture. This initiative aims to equip students with practical skills that meet the demands of the modern economy and support national development.
Officials noted that the curriculum update is part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen vocational and technical education, enhance employability, and foster entrepreneurship among Nigerian youth. By introducing diverse skill areas, the administration seeks to prepare graduates for emerging industries and technological advancements.
The Ministry of Education emphasized that the new trades will be integrated across technical colleges nationwide, ensuring that students acquire hands-on experience alongside theoretical knowledge. The move is expected to boost innovation, job creation, and the country’s capacity to compete in both local and international markets.
