The Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, has initiated a groundbreaking partnership between Galaxy Backbone (GBB) and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to electrify public institutions including schools, hospitals, universities, and security outfits. The agreement, signed in Abuja, aims to unlock $25 billion in previously lost revenue by providing reliable electricity and digital connectivity to these critical facilities.
Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanyu, Managing Director of GBB, explained that the rollout will begin with federal institutions in Abuja, including the National Hospital. He emphasized that this initiative will eventually extend to grassroots levels, improving efficiency in governance and enhancing public service delivery across the country.
Abba Abubakar Aliyu, Managing Director of REA, described the partnership as a strategic step toward achieving Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy goal. He said the effort will boost clean energy access, financial inclusion, and digital infrastructure, especially in underserved communities.
This ambitious collaboration reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to linking energy, digital development, and economic empowerment. It lays a strong foundation for a digitally enabled, energy-secure future that supports education, healthcare, and security systems nationwide.
