Nigeria has earned $66 million from electricity exports to the Republic of Benin in the 2025 fiscal year, highlighting the success of the nation’s power sector under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The revenue reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening regional energy cooperation and leveraging Nigeria’s electricity generation capacity to support neighboring countries.

The Federal Government emphasized that the earnings are part of ongoing efforts to improve electricity supply, expand transmission infrastructure, and promote cross-border power trade in West Africa. The export to Benin Republic not only generates revenue but also strengthens economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries, demonstrating Nigeria’s growing role as a regional energy hub.

Officials noted that the administration’s focus on investment in generation, transmission, and distribution has enhanced the reliability and efficiency of the national grid, creating opportunities for further electricity exports to other West African nations. The $66 million revenue underscores the economic benefits of these reforms and reinforces President Tinubu’s vision for a robust and interconnected power sector.
