The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the disbursement of ₦73 billion under the new student loan scheme, a key component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to accessible and inclusive education.

According to NELFUND’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the agency is “working internally” to resolve all pending issues affecting the release of institutional fees and upkeep allowances for some approved students.

This reassurance came following a letter of appeal submitted to the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other-Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN), by Taiwo Agunloye, a Physiotherapy student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, Anambra State.

The student loan scheme is one of the flagship programmes of the Tinubu administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at eliminating financial barriers to tertiary education for Nigerian students nationwide.
