
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has secured high praise from the National Farmers Coalition and grassroots agricultural groups following the disbursement of ₦19.5 billion to 50,000 smallholder farmers through the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF)
Announcing the commendation on Monday, Coalition President Dr. Abubakar Bamai lauded the programme for empowering farmers via the Strategic Grant Programme which includes subsidised inputs, crop insurance, and capacity building through the AgGrow Support Programme The initiative also features innovative partnerships with entities like Nigeria Cassava Investment Accelerator, NOVA Bank, and Flour Mills, a collaboration aimed at scaling maize and cassava production
Dr. Bamai highlighted that the NADF’s integration of modern technologies with a new digital monitoring and evaluation platform ensures transparency and accountability in fund distribution He also praised mechanisation efforts and climate resilience components such as solar powered irrigation and weather alert systems as well as youth and women focused programs that promote agribusiness among vulnerable groups
Further commending NADF Executive Secretary Mohammed Ibrahim for his leadership, the coalition urged President Tinubu to strengthen the NADF’s mandate and called on the National Assembly to boost its budget in order to extend the scheme’s reach and cement public trust in agricultural governance
