In a major milestone for Nigeria’s healthcare sector, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has surpassed the Federal Government’s health insurance enrollment target by an impressive 99% two years ahead of the 2027 deadline. This remarkable achievement reflects the impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes universal healthcare access for all Nigerians.
Under President Tinubu’s leadership, the NHIA intensified its nationwide enrollment drive, expanded coverage to vulnerable groups, and partnered with state governments and private sector players to accelerate implementation. The agency’s aggressive outreach campaigns and improved digital infrastructure helped bring millions of Nigerians into the health insurance net.
The NHIA’s Director General described the feat as a testament to the administration’s political will and commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). She reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to maintain momentum and ensure that every Nigerian has access to affordable, quality healthcare regardless of income or location.
