The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has issued over 3.5 million international passports in less than two years, marking a significant improvement in passport processing and delivery across Nigeria and in the diaspora.

This milestone was announced by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who revealed that the government is now saving N1 billion annually due to key reforms in the passport value chain. These reforms include the elimination of third-party involvement, digitization of application processes, and improved service delivery through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

According to the Minister, the streamlined system has not only enhanced efficiency but also reduced processing time and eliminated long-standing delays that plagued passport issuance for years. He emphasized that these achievements are a direct result of President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency, digital transformation, and improved citizen experience in public services.

The reforms align with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s broader goal of strengthening institutions and ensuring that government services are accessible, affordable, and efficient for all Nigerians.
