The Director General of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Major General Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya, has announced that Nigeria is on track to achieve self-sufficiency in the local production of arms and ammunition, a major step forward under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at the DICON headquarters in Kaduna during the signing of a joint venture agreement with SP Offshore Nigeria Limited, Major General Alaya revealed that the deal would enable local manufacturing of critical military hardware including weapons, ammunition, fast assault craft, drones, and security vehicles.
He described the agreement as a historic milestone that aligns with President Tinubu’s renewed push for a robust military-industrial complex, one of the key pillars of his administration’s national security and defense strategy.
