Britain’s Prince William has taken his eldest son, Prince George, on a visit to a homelessness charity in London, where they assisted in preparing Christmas meals for people in need, Kensington Palace confirmed on Saturday.

The outing carried deep personal significance for the Prince of Wales, as his late mother, Princess Diana, had taken him to the same organisation when he was just 11 years old. That early experience later influenced William’s long-standing commitment to tackling homelessness across the United Kingdom.

During the visit to the charity, known as The Passage, Prince George signed the visitors’ book on the same page once signed by Princess Diana, who died in a car accident in Paris in 1997 when William was 15.

Dressed in aprons, the 12-year-old prince and his father worked side by side in the kitchen, helping to portion food into trays while chatting with catering staff. They later assisted in setting up long dining tables, arranging napkins and Christmas crackers in preparation for the festive lunch.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said it was important to Prince William to introduce Prince George to the work of The Passage and to volunteer together with the charity’s team. The spokesperson added that both father and son enjoyed meeting staff, volunteers and service users, while gaining deeper insight into the organisation’s mission.

Prince William has remained a strong advocate for initiatives aimed at preventing homelessness, alongside his work on environmental issues and efforts to promote open discussions around mental health.

William, his wife Catherine, and their three children are expected to spend the Christmas holidays at King Charles’ Sandringham estate in eastern England.
