The Federal Government has urged the Federal High Court in Abuja to reject the no case submission filed by Nnamdi Kanu and compel him to defend himself against terrorism charges.
During the court session, the prosecution counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), argued that the Federal Government had already established a prima facie case against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Awomolo stated that the evidence tendered, including witness testimony, broadcast videos, written statements, and intelligence reports, clearly links Kanu to a campaign of incitement, violence, and acts of terrorism.
He emphasized that Kanu’s broadcasts on Biafra Radio led to the killings of over 170 security personnel and the destruction of critical public infrastructure in Nigeria’s South East.
According to the prosecution, the argument that Kanu has no case to answer lacks legal merit and should be dismissed. Justice James Omotosho has reserved his ruling on the no case submission until October 10, 2025. If the court agrees with the prosecution, Kanu will be ordered to open his defence. If not, he may be discharged of all charges.
