Real Madrid secured a dominant 5-0 victory over fourth-tier side Deportivo Minera on Monday, booking their place in the Copa del Rey last 16.

Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Arda Güler found the net in the first half, while Luka Modrić and Güler, with his second of the night, completed the rout in the second.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti rotated his squad, resting key players ahead of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia later this week. Stars like Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior featured only as second-half substitutes.

Valverde opened the scoring early with a volley at the back post, and Camavinga doubled the lead with a header just 13 minutes in. Arda Güler added the third before halftime, cutting in from the right and benefiting from a deflection.

In the second half, Brahim Díaz struck the post before Modrić, at 39 years old, delivered a precise curling effort for Madrid’s fourth. Güler rounded off the night with a composed finish after being set up by Fran García.

Elsewhere in the competition, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid also advanced with comfortable wins, while holders Athletic Bilbao narrowly progressed on penalties against third-tier Logroñés.

The draw for the next round will take place on Wednesday, with matches scheduled between January 14-16.
