The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced it will resume its suspended nationwide strike on January 12, citing the Federal Government’s failure to implement agreed welfare and service-condition reforms.
The strike, scheduled to begin at 12:00 a.m., will be indefinite, according to the association. NARD said key demands, including the payment of salary and promotion arrears, reinstatement of dismissed doctors, and implementation of agreed allowances, remain unmet.
The doctors had suspended a previous strike in November after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the government, but say the agreed timeline for implementation has elapsed without progress.
NARD warned that the action could disrupt healthcare services nationwide if the issues are not urgently resolved. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
