The Rivers State House of Assembly has formally written to the state’s Chief Judge, requesting the constitution of a seven-member panel to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Siminalaye Fubara GSSRS.

The letter, sent by the leadership of the House, seeks the appointment of the panel to examine claims levelled against the governor and report back to the Assembly for further action.

Details of the allegations have not yet been made public, but the request signals the Assembly’s intent to formally scrutinise the governor’s conduct in accordance with state law.

The Chief Judge’s office is expected to review the request and determine the next steps regarding the formation of the investigative panel.
