A Russian drone strike targeting the Ukrainian capital on Friday resulted in one death and four injuries in the Kyiv suburbs, local officials confirmed.
Moscow has intensified its aerial bombardments across Ukraine in the early weeks of winter, including a New Year’s Day drone attack on central Kyiv that left two people dead.
Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv region, which encircles the capital, reported on social media that “one person was killed and four wounded in an enemy air attack on the Kyiv region.”
According to Kalashnyk, a truck driver was killed by debris from a Russian drone that had been shot down. Additionally, wreckage struck a house, injuring three people, including a 16-year-old boy and his father.
The Ukrainian air force reported that Russia launched 93 drones overnight. It said 60 attack drones and 26 decoy drones were either downed or disabled by electronic countermeasures.
Wreckage from downed drones also fell on two Kyiv districts, though the city’s mayor confirmed there were no injuries from this.
