The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has praised the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army for its steadfast dedication to maintaining peace, safety, and security across Lagos State.

The commendation came during the Combined 2025 West African Social Activities (WASA) of the Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army, Nigerian Army Engineers, and 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, held at the 9 Brigade Parade Ground, TA Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Toyin Akinmade Ayinde, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, especially under the framework of Operation MESA, to enhance their operational efficiency.

Describing WASA as a “lasting cultural legacy” originating from the West African Frontier Force era, the Governor noted its role in fostering unity, camaraderie, and esprit de corps among military personnel and their families.

He also highlighted that troops of the 81 Division, like their counterparts nationwide, have been actively involved in various operations, training exercises, and internal security duties. WASA, according to him, offers a well-deserved chance for personnel to relax, celebrate their accomplishments, and bond with loved ones.
