Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Mr. Adetola Muyiwa John as the new Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary of the State Treasury Office, effective March 2, 2026.

The appointment follows the statutory retirement of the immediate past Accountant-General, Dr. Abiodun Muritala. Until his new appointment, Adetola served as the State Auditor-General.

According to an official statement from the Office of the Head of Service, the redeployment is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability, transparency, and efficiency in the management of public finances in Lagos State.

The government expressed confidence that the new Accountant-General will bring his experience to bear in sustaining prudent financial management and supporting the state’s development agenda.
